Summary:

Abraham Frautschi eagerly awaits information from his brother Jakob from whom he has not heard in two years. Because of poor conditions in Saanen, Abraham is thinking of joining Jakob in Wisconsin. He therefore wants to know about routes from New York to Wisconsin, provisions, building materials, livestock, soil conditions, and exchange rates. He asks twice if there is a need for school teachers.
