Much-folded and worn document created for Jacques Frautschi (signed Jacob
Frautschi) on 13 February 1852. Jacob—accompanied by his wife, daughter,
and son—used this passport to emigrate from Switzerland to the
United States. Some of the writing and print from the reverse sides can be seen
through on the facing pages.
Original document in the collection of the Max Kade Institute for German-American
Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
