Elisabeth, 19 Fall [!?] 1875

Dear Brother

I failed to let you know that I did receive the bill of exchange.

In the future you can spare yourself the trouble of writing my name on newspapers since I leave them at the post office. Our dear mother did not care much for American newspapers and even though there is a lot of good things inside, every worldly organization has its good sides. Yes, free societies or clubs also have good rules like the bible, they open and close their meetings with a prayer and people still have to vow on the bible that they will give free care and support to their sick and destitute members, but since they are in fact atheists they catch poor people in a snare and seduce innocent hearts through their soft words and dreadful talks.

Greetings,

Johann Peter Frautschi
