Elisabeth, August 21, 1875

Dear Brother,

I received the precious letter from you and our brother. You can send the money now as a bill of exchange. I have drawn the earlier ones. I can invest it here with a German who ______________ for 10% and can get it back any time. I have invested money through him before and still do, and his brother got rich in this district and has _____________ only success, and I thank you for your trouble. We are in the middle of the harvest, which is a bountiful one, for we have been spared locusts and storms. We have had nearly two months of continuous dry weather, but the grass for the cattle is still green.

Warm greetings and good wishes

Johann Peter Frautschi

Our youngest child is always sick despite the annoying heat; this gives us many sleepless hours and causes mother many sleepless nights.
