St. Paul, 12 January 1900

My dear brother Christian,

We were glad to receive you nice letter of 10 January. It was so
good to hear from you again.

We are sorry that Jurgin is still feeling poorly. We hope that
the Texas climate will do his heath some good.

We too still have our little aches and pains. A week after you
were here last my wife broke an ankle, she slipped on the wet
sidewalk. She could not walk again for quite some time and her
ankle is still weak.

Ruben got home again last fall. The country air last summer did
Him a lot of good, the doctor thinks that his lung will be
totally healed, he is still under the doctor's care, so is
Lille, she might have to have an operation.

Well, we have good reason to thank God. He has faithfully
sustained us up to now through all trials, and we place our hope
and trust in Him that he will continue to help and guide us and
make everything work to our good.

Our son George worked for a long time in Portland, Oregon, and
San Francisco, California, then he went to Los Angeles and has
now moved on to Texas. We expect him to return to us in the
spring.

The winter so far has not been very cold and there has not been
enough snow for sledding so we haven't sold a lot of winter
articles, otherwise business would have been better like it was
previously.

Adolf has written to us several times and sent us some
photographs of the Philippines, we think they are very
interesting and we have had them mounted on cards. We are so
glad that he is healthy and we hope that he will arrive home
safely.

We send our best greetings to you and wish you all the best in
body and soul
