Beloved brother!<lb>


The Lord blesses you and your dear wife<lb>
with the riches of mercy.<lb>
I am truly sorry that I am not able to greet you in person<lb>
once more. I now have a regular, intermittant fever, and my<lb>
nerves are so bad that I write these lines<lb>
with a trembling hand. I could only partially attend<lb>
our conference, which was successful. I have once again<lb>
accepted a position, trusting in God I do not know<lb>
how I will fare, since I stand now in the hand of my savior<lb>
who has helped me up to now, and who will also continue to help me.<lb>


I would only like to ask you if you can spare<lb>
an hour of your leisure time to help my Heinrich<lb>
so that he may cover up the bookcase<lb>
which belongs to me. If you could do this, you<lb>
would oblige me to give you my heartfelt thanks.<lb>


With your new preacher, the dear<lb>
Brother Finger, Madison has every reason<lb>
to be happy, and surely will be.<lb>
My position is quite pleasant,<lb>
but I would prefer to be healthy, so that<lb>
I could serve the profession with agility, rather than so;<lb>
but God has this is _____.<lb>


Tomorrow, the Swiss chancellor will travel from here<lb>
onward to Ashford.<lb>


Salutations from us to your dear brothers.<lb>

Geliebter Bruder!<lb>


Der Herr segne Dich und Deine liebe Gattin<lb>
mit dem Reichthum seiner Gnade.<lb>
Es thut mir herzlich leid, dass ich nicht vermoegend<lb>
bist, Euch noch einmal persoenlich zu begruessen.<lb>
Ich habe jetzt das regulaere Wechselfieber, meine<lb>
Nervenschwaeche ist so gross, dass ich diese Zeilen<lb>
mit zitternder Hand schreibe. Unserer Conferenz-<lb>
sitzung welche recht gesegnet war, habe ich nur<lb>
heilweises beiwohnen koennen. Ich habe im Vertrauen<lb>
auf Gott wieder eine Anstellung angenommen, wie<lb>
es mir gehen wird, weiss ich nicht, denn ich stehe<lb>
ja in der Hand meines treuen Heilands, der bisher<lb>
geholfen, der wird auch weiter helfen.<lb>


Ich moechte Dich nur herzlich ersuchen, wenn du _____<lb>
eine Mussestunde eruebrigen kannst, meinem Heinrich<lb>
etwas behilflich zu sein, dass der Buecherschrank, die<lb>
_____ gehoerig ver[?]ekt mache. Du ver-<lb>
pflichtest mich dadurch zum herzlichen Dank.<lb>


Mit eurem neuen Prediger, dem lieben<lb>
Br. Finger, hat Madison alle Ursache recht zu-<lb>
frieden zu sein, was sie auch ohne allen Zweifel<lb>
hier wird. Meine Anstellung ist eine recht ungenehme<lb>
doch waere ich viel lieber gesund, und bediente das<lb>
hurtigste Arbeitsfeld als so; nun nur Gott hat des<lb>
ist _____.<lb>


Die Schwezter Kentzler wird morgen von hier fort<lb>
nach Ashford fahren.<lb>


Gruesse von uns an die lieben Geschwister dorten.<lb>


Sei nun, samt der lieben sehr vielmal<lb>
gegruesst. Achtungsvoll in Liebe<lb>
