Jacob Theophil Frautschi was the son of J. Jakob Frautschi. This certificate
commemorates his baptism in Saanan, Switzerland, on the 13th day of January
in the year 1850. The central text has been translated as:
This is the blessing of your faithful godmother
Maria Magdalena Rübli
On the 19th day of January
In the year 1850 have you been christened
In Saanen
Jakob Theophil Frautschi
The original document is in two pieces, in the collection of the Max Kade Institute
for German-American Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
