Summary:
Johann writes to report the death of their brother, J. Peter Frautschi. J. Peter did not want his brothers to know of his death until after the funeral, so as to spare them the concern. Johann contemplates his own mortality, and finds comfort in his religious beliefs. He also comments on Christian's move into a new building.
